Director of Nursing for Not-for-Profit, Faith-Based Senior Living Organization

THE CHALLENGE

The ALIGN team had established a strong and enduring partnership with a prominent not-for-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to providing high-quality senior living and care. The organization, operating for over a century, offers personalized care for seniors in multiple states, providing services from independent living to skilled nursing care.

Following the retirement of their previous Director of Nursing, the organization turned to ALIGN to help them find a highly skilled RN to fill the role. Their ideal candidate would have a well-tenured background, extensive clinical knowledge, and expertise in the same position.

ALIGN, known for our ability to bring gainfully employed candidates to the table, was ready to deliver an excellent pool of qualified candidates to the organization.

The client was seeking a candidate who aligned with their faith-based values, possessed non-profit facility experience, and matched the desired skill set. Our first step involved meeting with the facility’s Executive Director to comprehensively understand the ideal candidate’s profile. The position had been open for four months, and the facility had been unable to identify a suitable candidate.

ALIGN’s brainstorming and strategic planning sessions focused on effectively headhunting candidates in the area. We worked closely with the internal talent acquisition recruiter on the client side to ensure that we were targeting the right candidates.

Using a lot of trial and error to find the perfect candidate, we contacted actively employed nursing directors and asked for referrals. We chased every possible avenue to identify the right candidates, using titles and search terms most likely to attract the perfect hire. Our team’s commitment to finding candidates with the right skill set and values was paramount.

ALIGN identified six potential candidates from a pool of 12 interested individuals. After a rigorous pre-screening process, three candidates were presented to the client for interviews. One candidate stood out from the others due to his faith-based values and desire for a facility aligned with those values. Despite not actively seeking new employment, the candidate was open to communication and attended multiple interviews and meetings with the facility. The candidate showed a strong interest in learning about the facility’s culture and values, indicating that he was interviewing the facility as much as they were interviewing him. Ultimately, the candidate accepted the position and relocated closer to the facility. The package offered to him included the following:
  • Health benefits.
  • A matching 403B pension fund.
  • A 20 percent increase in overall salary.
  • The clinical and operational support he was seeking.
The new hire has made a positive contribution to the facility and has expressed a commitment to staying with the facility until retirement. Overall, ALIGN’s recruitment process successfully identified a candidate who met the client’s job requirements, shared the facility’s values, and had a long-term commitment to the organization. Since our initial partnership in 2017, the organization has valued ALIGN’s commitment to delivering top-quality service, and our relationship has continued to flourish. ALIGN’s approach to finding the right candidate, combined with our deep understanding of the organization’s needs, has helped to solidify a successful business relationship.
